Un poema de Rudyard Kipling dedicat al seu fill John, 1910
IF you can keep your head when all about you
(Si pots mantenir el seny quan al teu voltant)
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
(estan perdent el seu i te'n donen les culpes)
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
(si pots confiar en tu mateix quan tothom dubta de tu)
But make allowance for their doubting too;
(però tolerar els seus dubtes)
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
(Si pots esperar sense cansar-te'n)
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
(o ser mentit sense respondre mentint)
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
